New York American
June 29, 1906

This cartoon appeared in the New York American just after the murder. It shows Stanford White posing as the statue "Diana" which crowned his architectural masterwork and the place of his ignominious demise, Madison Square Garden.

The nude statue of Diana by St. Gaudens (a crony of Stanford White) was considered shocking in its day.

In this cartoon we see White, armed with Diana's bow, firing arrows at young virgins from the rooftop of Madison Square Garden.
